Dev Diary 73 - Steam Next Fest!

Today Steam Next Fest starts! I’ve been pushing a lot of updates recent days, and the most important time in this game’s story begins today. The demo is already reopened, so play it! It would help a lot if you left a review - reportedly it increases performance during the next fest. I also will be streaming every day!

Updates

Besides A LOT of fixed bugs and crashes, I made some important UX improvements. You can now drag a worker onto a resource on the map to create a production, as a shorthand of going to production menu. The plus and minus buttons light up red when you run out of orders, and some notifications hide by themselves now. The game also has Steam integration with achievements, and it’s translated into 8 more languages (if you know one of these - please report errors - they are not always good).

I’m also adding more and more content for the full game. One example is the Dark Elves faction, inspired by old MMOs!

Factions are getting more and more distinct features. I try to make some unique armor looks for each faction. Dark elves, for example, will have that sexy armor that you can in theory obtain with other factions. I designed polymorphic system for any kind of creature, and bulky dwarves use the same models as elegant elves!

By the way, demo includes unlockable Dwarves I introduced in previous changelog - I could not leave out digging, it turned out to be too fun.
